DIY by sandwiching boards! Make a two-tiered rack with hug blocks♪

DIY by clamping the boards together

Hello!
I'm Hiro, one of our staff members.

For those of you who want to try your hand at DIY but can't make anything professional and don't have the tools yet...we would like to introduce an item called "HUG BLOCK"!
You can easily create racks, boxes, etc. without using any special tools.

I created a recipe for a two-tiered rack using hug blocks, so be sure to check it out!

What is a hug block?

Hug blocks are an item that allows you to easily make DIY furniture by simply clamping two boards together!

There are two types: an L-shaped one that can connect two boards, and a T-shaped one that can connect three boards. By combining these, you can enjoy a variety of DIY projects.

In addition, you can easily try it out because you can connect the boards just by tightening them with a hex wrench. If you want to change the shape or size of your furniture, you can easily arrange it by adjusting the hug blocks.

Let's make it!

●8 sets of L-shaped hug blocks ●4 sets of T-shaped hug blocks ●4 pieces of wood for side panels of the same thickness / 3 pieces of wood for top panel, shelf panel, and bottom panel ●Hexagonal wrench (5 mm)

I used it!

Calculate board size using formula

First, measure the size of the installation area and calculate the size of the timber!
When doing this, be careful to cut it to a size that subtracts the thickness of the L-type Hug Block and the T-type Hug Block.

Temporarily fixed by sandwiching wood

Loosen the bolts of the hug block with a hex wrench and fit the wood so that the side with the hole is on the inside. Check that the wood is firmly inserted, then lightly tighten the bolts with a hex wrench to secure it in place.

If you tighten it too much from the beginning, it will cause distortion throughout the piece, so fix it only temporarily.

\POINT/

When fixing it with a T-shaped hug block, be sure to tighten it evenly on both sides to avoid distortion!
As with the previous step, do not tighten this too much, just fix it temporarily.

If you are using wood that is 15mm or thicker, please replace the short bolts with the longer bolts provided.

Finally, tighten it up tightly

Finally, check that there is no distortion and then tighten the bolts securely!
If you are concerned about wobbling, you can also screw it in place, although this will leave marks.

Completed!

Finished! A simple yet sturdy two-tiered rack is now available. There are no difficult steps, so it's recommended for DIY beginners.

Why not try making this as your first DIY project?

I added a little extra effort!

The two-tier rack is fine as it is, but adding a little extra effort will make it even more convenient!
We added casters to the bottom to make it a mobile wagon. It's also recommended as a kitchen wagon or a portable toy box for children.

The "Hug Block" introduced this time is also on sale in our store.
If you'd like to try it, be sure to check it out.
