What is a pegboard?

A perforated board is a board with holes at equal intervals.
It is also called pegboard, perforated board, punching board, design board, etc.

Perforated boards have the ability to absorb sound through their holes, so they are often used in rooms where you don't want sound to echo, such as school music rooms.

Hole diameter and pitch

Pegboards come in a variety of hole sizes and pitches.

Generally, there are 25mm and 30mm types with hole pitch (distance between holes). The most common hole diameter is 5mm, but there are also 6mm and 8mm types.
I buy perforated boards at home improvement stores, and I often use one with a hole diameter of 5mm, hole pitch of 25mm, and a thickness of 5.5mm.
The mainstream size may vary depending on the region.

Be sure to check the appropriate size of the hook for the pegboard at the same time! There are hooks that use more than two holes, and if the hole pitch is different, you may not be able to hang it. Be sure to choose a hook size that is compatible with the pegboard you are using!

DIY use

For DIY purposes, you can attach special hooks to the holes to create flexible storage space, or use it as a room divider.
